Your Students Learn Filmmaking from Hollywood Professionals.
Their Enrollment Changes a Life.
Outlast After School is an 8-week advanced film production program taught by professionals with credits on Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Transformers. Every enrollment funds a free spot for a young Native filmmaker in our Summer Film Intensive.
Outlast After School puts your students on a real film set.
Over 8 weeks, students work directly with professionals whose credits include Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther, and Transformers: Bumblebee.
This is not a film appreciation class. Students learn the actual techniques, workflows, and creative problem-solving used on professional productions.
What Students Walk Away With
A professional portfolio of completed film projects ready for college applications, festivals, and scholarships
Technical fluency in cinematography, lighting, sound design, editing, and directing
Industry mentorship and real stories from working professionals about what it takes to build a career in film
Professional skills that transfer beyond film: project management, creative collaboration, leadership under pressure, and presenting with confidence
8-WEEK CURRICULUM
Week 1-2: Pre-Production & Storytelling
Script development, story structure, storyboarding, shot planning, production design, location scouting, casting, and crew organization. Students learn that great films are built before the camera turns on.
Week 3-4: Production
Camera operation, professional lighting techniques, sound recording, audio design, directing actors, and managing a working set. Students rotate through crew roles so they understand every part of the production.
Week 5-6: Post-Production
Non-linear editing in industry-standard software, color correction and grading, sound mixing, effects design, and visual effects fundamentals. This is where students see their projects come together.
Week 7-8: Portfolio & Premiere
Finalizing projects for festivals and college applications, building a filmmaker's reel, industry networking guidance, and a culminating screening event where students present their work to families, faculty, and peers.

THE OUTLAST MODEL
Every paid enrollment in Outlast After School directly funds a free spot in our summer film intensive for Native youth. It is a simple exchange: your school invests in exceptional education for your students, and a young person who would not otherwise have access receives that same education at no cost.
Our summer program alumni have been featured in Teen Vogue, recognized with Telly Awards, and collaborated with MTV and Paramount. These are young filmmakers creating professional-quality work and building real career pathways in media and storytelling.
When your school partners with Outlast, you are not writing a check to charity. You are joining a model that proves arts education works when young people are given real tools and real mentorship.
WHAT PARTNERS SAY
“Partnering with Outlast Arts and Education to bring documentary filmmaking to our students was one of the best decisions we have made. The Outlast team connected naturally with our kids, teaching them not just the technical side of filmmaking but how to find and tell stories that matter.
The growth we witnessed was remarkable. Students who had never held a camera walked away with finished documentaries they were genuinely proud of, along with skills in research, interviewing, and critical thinking that carried well beyond the program.
Outlast was professional, passionate, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We look forward to continuing this partnership.” - Gabriell Gaiter, Innovative Learners, Chicago, IL
— Gabriell Gaiter, Founder Innovative Learners, Chicago, ILThe Phoenix Union High School District Native American Education Program had the pleasure to collaborate with Outlast to facilitate an Indigenous Filmmaking Camp for our PXU students! PXU students had the opportunity to learn how to make a short film, including terminology for filming, the different kinds of film shots, and how to use and operate the filming equipment. The students were able to use their creativity and worked with a team to produce, direct, shoot and edit film shots for a one-minute video over a topic of their choosing.
The Outlast team was well-prepared, demonstrated excellent teaching skills, and engaged our students in meaningful conversations. This experience brought out each student's true leadership by allowing them to use their creativity in ways that really highlighted their talent and skill. The amount of detail each student contributed to every task not only gave them a new level of knowledge, but it also proved that, given even the smallest amount of guidance, amazing results are possible.” - LeAndra Marris, Phoenix Union High School District, Phoenix, AZ
“In my experience with Outlast, the support they've provided helped me see the further potential in the path I want to go for in life, which is experimenting with various ways of showing our Indigenous creativity. My way of doing so has always been with music and writing, but it was thanks to Outlast for opening me up to film.” - Outlast Student
“I think other kids should definitely go to programs like Outlast Arts and Education and take part in film college tours like this. It gives us a chance to see what’s possible and makes us realize that we belong in these spaces, too. Being on these tours helped me imagine my future and showed me that our voices and stories are important. Programs like this open our eyes to new opportunities, and they can inspire more Native students to chase their dreams in film and other arts.” - Outlast Student
